Hi! I'm Lisa Jarvis. I am not a nutritionist, but I love good food! I am Mom to four awesome young men and I love cooking for them and my entire family. After getting my degree in Elementary Education years ago and teaching, I decided to go back to college and get my degree in Culinary Arts. I have learned many new skills and recipes and my passion is to take traditional recipes and make them healthier. I have always tried to eat healthy and exercise, but on my culinary journey, I have learned more about some of the ingredients in our food. It is a known fact that Americans struggle with obesity and other diseases linked to poor food choices. Most of us know how to fix the problem and that is eat fewer calories and not so much junk... but temptation is everywhere and we are so busy we tend to give in to bad food choices for convenience sake. I decided to really start focusing on what is in the foods I eat and really was surprised at the insane amount of calories and added sugar in many of the foods we eat everyday. I wanted to learn more about eating clean and what that means. Basically, clean eating is enjoying real food in its most natural state possible, avoiding added sugar, additives, and unhealthy fats. It is not a diet. I have been there and done that more times than I want to think about! The way I have started eating is really a lifestyle. It is about taking unhealthy food and giving it a makeover! It is about planning ahead to make good intentional choices to put the best fuel in my body I can. And I have to tell you, I feel better than I have in years! I am excited to share meal-prep ideas, recipes, and tips and tricks to help you feel your best too!
