Baked Cranberry Apple Crunch

This is a delicious take on the traditional cranberry side dish for Thanksgiving. My Mom makes this every Thanksgiving and it always tastes so delicious, not to mention how beautiful it is and how wonderful it smells! The tartness of the cranberries and the sweetness of the apples combined with the oats and pecan topping makes this a winning Thanksgiving side! The topping is crunchy and nutty and the fruit cooks perfectly in the oven. The prep for this is really fast and easy. I hope this Thanksgiving you will add this to your meal! It pairs so well with the turkey and dressing, or will be fantastic with ham or pork as well. It can be served hot, warm, or cold!

Enjoy!

Here's what you need:

3 cups chopped, unpeeled apples ( I used 1 Granny Smith and 2 Honeycrisp)

2 cups raw whole cranberries

1 cup sugar

Topping:

1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup chopped nuts ( I used pecans)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup butter (not melted)

Combine the apples, cranberries, and sugar in a bowl. Toss gently and pour into a casserole dish or deep dish pie pan. Combine the topping ingredients, cutting the butter into it until combined, and sprinkle on top of the fruit evenly. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. It will set up a little more as it cools.
